While this one in particular wasn't our favorite of hers, we still enjoyed it and would recommend it to others. It is a little slow in parts, but we are convinced you will fall in love with the main characters while also enjoying the part Daniel plays as well. We love learning more about characters from the Bible and being given a glimpse at what their lives might have been like. Tessa does just that like no other author!

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">Keren struggles with her lot in life, but has found favor in many circumstances and is content living in Daniel's household. However, a disastrous accident sends her packing her bags and leaving everything and everyone she knows, including Jared whom she loves but doesn't believe will ever love her in return. Keren fears she will never be able to return home, but remains faithful and true to the Lord. Jared, unbeknownst to Keren, loves her but is angry and doesn't know if he can forgive her for what happened. Despite his feelings, he feels he must find her and bring her home. The plot thickens when they reunite, but instead of bringing her home, Jared feels he must join her in the journey the Lord has called her to be a part of. Will his heart soften enough to forgive her, and maybe even love her once again? We love how the Lord is woven into every part of the story; His grace and forgiveness are beautiful even in the midst of tragedy.

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: x-small;">

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: x-small;">Note: We were given this book in exchange for our honest review.<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

TwoChicksonLithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10251973898302668366noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2595112412675579565.post-73788791689867356702022-07-02T05:59:00.006-07:002022-07-02T05:59:51.870-07:00All That It Takes (By: Nicole Deese)<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: large;">All That It Takes
<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">By: Nicole Deese

Story Line: 4 Stars
Depth: 4 Stars
Faith: 5 Stars
Love Story: 4 Stars
Overall: 4.5 Stars

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

This book is a sequel, but in our opinion, even better than the first! After briefly meeting Miles McKenzie and Val Locklear in the first book, All That Really Matters, we now get to journey with them as main characters in this second book. And what a wonderful journey it is!

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">Both Miles and Val could be characterized as steady people, but the phrase "still waters run deep" perfectly describes each of them. Miles is an outreach pastor whose plans are not going in the direction he wants, while Val has just taken a huge risk to move her and her son over a thousand miles away in an effort to branch out on her own and follow her dreams. Although they have met before in the first book, they reunite here in a charming, humorous way before forging a strong friendship. Piece by piece, Miles learns about Val's regretful past as they try to revive a dying ministry in town.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">As their relationship grows, this story explores depths we didn't expect it to. Val is given an opportunity to compete in a prestigious film contest and through this, she comes to discover just how much God will use her own story to impact the lives of many, many more people. As Miles seems unable to obtain his dream job and feels "stuck" in a corner, he has to come to grips with his own limited perspective on the impact he can have right in his own town.
This read is a charming little escape, both lighthearted and deep all at the same time!

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: x-small;">

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: x-small;">Note: We were given this book in exchange for our honest review.<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

TwoChicksonLithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10251973898302668366noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2595112412675579565.post-85460076605595898692022-05-03T07:22:00.005-07:002022-05-03T07:22:50.247-07:00In Honor's Defense (By: Karen Witemeyer)<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: large;">In Honor's Defense
<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">By: Karen Witemeyer

Story Line: 4 Stars
Depth: 4 Stars
Faith: 5 Stars
Love Story: 4 Stars
Overall: 4 Stars

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">In Honor's Defense is the final book in the Hanger's Horseman trilogy and it was a satisfying ending to the series! Luke Davenport is the only horseman who hasn't settled down and he has no intentions to. Itching for another opportunity to fight for justice, he takes a job tracking down rustlers.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">Damaris Baxter leads a quiet and lonely life. However, when her older brother passes away and she is appointed guardianship of her nephew, she quickly packs up and moves to Texas, determined to be the family Nathaniel needs. She quickly learns parenting a boy who is not only grieving losing his dad, but is convinced his dad was murdered, is no easy feat.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">When Nathaniel gets into trouble and has a run in with Luke, he quickly becomes the protector of this sweet family of two. Damaris and Luke are determined to seek justice and find the truth, but can they do so with their hearts staying intact? The realness of these characters is beautiful and we could not help but fall in love with them. Karen did a fabulous job keeping us guessing with the mystery that was laced throughout the book while drawing us so fully into the lives of Luke and Damaris. Author Dani does an excellent job bringing the reader right into the middle of the story and quickly letting us know her main characters. As per her usual pace, Dani keeps us turning the pages as the military mystery unfolds in the aftermath. The storyline was excellent, except for the sheer number of characters we sometimes had trouble keeping straight.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">Several of the characters we met in the first two books have long had romantic sparks flying and it’s about time we see these couples finally get somewhere. If you have read the other books, you know about the Miracle Five, the five children who survived an earthquake disaster and are now all grown up. Four of them have remained close and have longed to have the fifth join them again in friendship and in life. However, Luke will never consider it a miracle that he survived the earthquake all those years ago - because that same earthquake took his brother's life. Luke has been ridden with guilt ever since and made some poor choices in life that landed in prison. Now a free man, he has one final job to do before he can get on with his life and leave Misty River for good. Luke made a promise to his friend and fellow inmate on his deathbed to help protect his daughter as she unravels a treasure hunt he has set up for her. How hard can it be? Well, Luke has yet to meet Finley!

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">Finley Sutherland is a down to earth girl who loves animals. She owns an animal rescue center and is excited to go on one final treasure hunt her dad set up. Luke Dempsey, who insists he must help her as her father requested, intrigues Finley and she is destined to help him learn what forgiveness really means. Finley has overcome her fair share of pain and trials as well and longs to see Luke "restored," but little does she know just how much he will teach her!

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">We fell in love with these characters. Honestly, it took a little bit to get used to Luke in his raw state, but we were incredibly impressed with how real he was. He quickly grew on us and kept us laughing! Luke and Finley grow together and it's a beautiful story. We were also thrilled to see Ben have his own sub story in this book as well. We are sad to see this series come to an end, but we sure did enjoy the friends we met along the way.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: x-small;">

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: x-small;">Note: We were given this book in exchange for our honest review.<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

TwoChicksonLithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10251973898302668366noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2595112412675579565.post-84714567355169157472022-01-16T07:54:00.000-08:002022-01-16T07:54:14.945-08:00Mulberry Hollow (By: Denise Hunter)<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: large;">Mulberry Hollow
<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">By: Denise Hunter

Story Line: 5 Stars
Depth: 4 Stars
Faith: 3 Stars
Love Story: 4 Stars
Overall: 4 Stars

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

After being slightly disappointed with the first book in the series, we were a tad cautious in returning to Riverbend Gap. Boy, are we glad we decided to travel here again! Book two captured our attention, held our interest, and we already want to come back for another visit! We loved the two main characters in this story and felt the depth and realness in their journey both together and separately.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">The Robinson family has had their fair share of trials and Avery is not immune to her own - past, present and those to come. She has far surpassed all expectations by becoming a young doctor with her own practice at the age of 30. Little do others know this milestone birthday could be the age she starts to exhibit symptoms of the rare disease her mother passed away from. Living in fear is not how Avery wants to live so she has chosen to forgo testing to see if she has the gene for the disease. But is she truly living when she insists on being alone and not sharing her life with others because of the "possible" pain and heartache that might come? When a sick Appalachian trail hiker stumbles on her doorstep she is not prepared for the emotions he awakens in her. But is he simply passing through? Or will he be able to overcome his own trials and find a place to settle in Riverbend? Pick up a copy of this book, settle in, and enjoy this beautiful story. We sure did!
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: x-small;">

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: x-small;">Note: We were given this book in exchange for our honest review.<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

TwoChicksonLithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10251973898302668366noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2595112412675579565.post-64128612015596188392021-10-06T05:52:00.001-07:002021-10-06T05:53:12.254-07:00Autumn by the Sea (By: Melissa Tag)<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: large;">Autumn by the Sea
<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">By: Melissa Tagg

Story Line: 4 Stars
Depth: 4 Stars
Faith: 3 Stars
Love Story: 4 Stars
Overall: 4 Stars

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

Autumn by the Sea captured our attention before we even opened the book! The author, the title, and cover drew us in.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">We have become big fans of author Melissa Tagg, and her writing just keeps getting better with each book. We thoroughly enjoyed the setting, pace, and mystery in this new series. Her characters grow on the reader quickly, and give us much to look forward to as the rest of the series is released. Melissa weaves different layers into the plot so engaging the book kept us turning pages long into the night.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">What caught us off guard - different from Melissa's previous books - was the ongoing mystery will seemingly take more than one book to solve! Therefore we eagerly wait for the next in the series. While we may have preferred a stronger faith aspect to be woven in a little more, we would highly recommend this book to others.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: x-small;">

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: x-small;">Note: We were given this book in exchange for our honest review.<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

TwoChicksonLithttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10251973898302668366noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2595112412675579565.post-72791909037999208692021-03-16T07:05:00.003-07:002021-03-16T07:05:59.776-07:00Jewel of the Nile (By: Tessa Afshar)<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif; font-size: large;">Jewel of the Nile
<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">By: Tessa Afshar

Story Line: 5 Stars
Depth: 4 Stars
Faith: 5 Stars
Love Story: 4 Stars
Overall: 4.5 Stars
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

Tessa Afshar is one of our favorite authors, and we were thrilled to see another publication from her! Jewel of the Nile was an engaging story that swept us away right from the first page.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">
Chariline knows almost nothing of her deceased parents' story. While we found a lot we liked, we found this story lacking compared to many of her other books.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">Greta and her younger sister, Astrid, are heading to Colorado in hopes that the mountain air will help heal Astrid's consumption. In order to survive, they were better off sticking together. The love story is sweet and progressed slowly. However, the characters seemed to go around in circles with their emotions and it started to drag towards the end. All that to say, we are eager to see how the rest of the series plays out.
Author Susan May Warren does not disappoint!

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">After Ham finds out he is father to a ten year old girl, he knows his wife Signe is still alive. Why has she been in hiding all these years? Why is he just now finding out about their daughter? Determined to find them both, bring them home and keep them safe, he embarks on a much bigger challenge than anticipated.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">Meanwhile, Signe has been on a deep undercover assignment that has gone way too far! In a desperate move to protect her daughter, Signe sends her home to the father she has never known - and the husband who has believed Signe to be dead all this time. Riddled with shame and guilt, Signe has little hope for her life moving forward. She just wants their daughter to be safe and for truth to come to light. She figures there is very little chance Ham would want her after everything. But Ham and his God are both in the business of offering grace and forgiveness.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">This book is very fast paced and will keep you turning the pages long into the night. We love the characters and Susan is one of our favorite authors! The only drawback is that at times this book was a little hard to follow - with so many things coming together at once, the reader must also have a good knowledge of the first two books in the trilogy and the series prior. It made our heads spin a little, but fans of Susan May Warren who have read all of these will be sure to enjoy this one as well.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Zoe Hart eagerly awaits a new life in British Columbia after her passage on a bride ship. Knowing her brother fled to these parts after being falsely convicted of a crime, Zoe first and foremost wants to reunite with him. If she needs to wed a man in this new land in order to fulfill that, then so be it! The prospects in this new and unfamiliar place are plenty, but who can she give her hand to, and eventually her heart? How will she know who is safe and who will help her find her brother?
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Pastor Abe, whom we have been introduced to in previous books in this series, has a heart for the lost in these mining towns, and is content waiting to travel home to England to his love. He and Zoe meet right as a man is dying and asks them to find a home for his baby girl. Thrown into a most unusual circumstance, Abe wants to protect the baby and Zoe, but how? A man Abe does not trust has offered to marry Zoe and take the baby if needed. As Abe worries about what to do, he receives a most unfortunate letter from his intended in England with news she is engaged to another man. Heartbroken and upset, Abe steps in and says he will marry Zoe.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Who doesn't love a good "marriage of convenience" story? Well written books like this become some of our favorites, and this one nestled its way into our hearts on a deeper level. The storytelling was excellent and we connected deeply with the characters. Both Abe and Zoe's were given tremendous character development as they learn how to be husband and wife, and more importantly, how to follow God's lead in learning to love others. The ups and downs of this story made a beautiful picture of how we are to treat and love others. We thoroughly enjoyed this book and we hope you do as well!
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">CGIS Agents Rissi Dawson and Mason Rogers and their team are back in book two of Dani Pettrey’s newest series, this time to investigate a suspicious death on an oil rigger off the coast of North Carolina.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">At the end of book one, The Killing Tide, Rissi and Mason are shocked to come face to face with each other after sharing a traumatic, complex history and having no communication for years. As they try to sort through the jumble of emotions upon seeing each other again, they must narrow their focus on the investigation at hand: the death and other strange occurrences on the oil rig, which is rumored to have a curse surrounding it.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">As she usually does, Dani gives the reader an excellent storyline to dig into. We alternately weave through the mystery and the relationships with eagerness and savor each morsel of intrigue. Mason and Rissi share a past as foster kids in a group home, and some darker subjects from this time in their lives are mentioned but not explored heavily. Their love story is touching, and had us cheering for them both all the way.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">However, this read fell short of our usual standards and Dani’s usual slam bang finishes. Although the storyline was excellent for the first three quarters of the book, we couldn’t help but feel the end was anti-climactic - there didn’t seem to be a climax, and the answers to the mysteries left us disappointed. In short, the end feel flat for us. We kept waiting for the, “oh no!” moment that never came.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">That being said, we are eager for the next book in this series and being able to revisit some characters we have grown to love. We still need to hear Noah, Emmy and Logan’s stories and we genuinely look forward to those!

Heart of a Hero picks up right where book one leaves us. Back from a frightening trip to Denali, Aria and Jake are now back in Minnesota. Determined to get on with life, they both know they should put all that happened in Alaska behind them, but how can they when so much of their hearts were shared with the other?
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Aria jumps back into her job a little too quickly and her colleagues can see that. To offer help, she is sent to Key West to attend a medical conference and Simultaneously get some much needed rest. Little does she know a storm is headed her way - or rather, two storms: both a hurricane and again, Jake Silver!
After seeing Aria briefly at a Fourth of July picnic, Jake knows he is a goner. He fell hard for Aria in Alaska and nothing has changed now that they are home. After seeing the news of a hurricane heading directly for the Keys, Jake's instincts to act first and explain later kick in to high gear. Will Aria be happy to see him or will she push him away?
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">This story is full of intense adventure, emotion, great chemistry, and faith. Aria and Jake both have trauma in their past and have areas they need to grow in as they learn to trust in God's plans, not their own. We love these characters and were eager to jump into Aria and Jake's story. Thank you Susan for delivering another gripping story that kept us up too late at night!
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Genevieve Woodward, by all appearances, has it all together. As one of the "Miracle Five" who survived a devastating earthquake in her teen years, and now, at thirty years old, a best-selling Bible study author, teacher and speaker, life is pretty good. From the outside she appears to be perfect. But she is hiding a devastating secret: her addiction to opioid painkillers. On top of this, she has begun receiving threatening notes hinting to secrets in her family's background.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">One morning she wakes up in a strange cottage with the owner staring down at her, with no memory of how she got there or where she is. When she realizes she needs to get clean, the man who found her - Sam Turner - agrees to rent this cottage to her, knowing she will need much support and help in the coming days. As Gen works to break her dependence on prescription drugs, she also sets about researching and uncovering any scandals in her family's history with Sam and her sister Natasha.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The storyline, weaving together mystery, the very real struggle of addiction recovery and a some little memories from the earthquake she was rescued from, blend flawlessly together so the reader is kept on their toes. But the faith and love story are what really shine in this novel!!! God reveals himself to characters in faithful ways and shows us the reality of His unconditional love and grace. The love story between Sam and Gen zings with electricity but is also intensely real as they learn how to navigate addiction recovery, trust, and risking safety for love.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Be sure to pick this novel up as soon as you can, and stay up a few late nights reading!

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Picture a quaint, cozy inn on a small lake in Bluebell, North Carolina and all the delight that image conjures up. From page one of Denise Hunter's newest book, Carolina Breeze, the reader steps into this serene setting and easily gets swept away into the beauty of this story!
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Book two in the Bluebell Inn series focuses on big brother Levi's story. As he and his two sisters, Molly and Grace, continue running the inn inherited from their parents, Levi finally gets a chance at love he didn't ask for and never saw coming. Steeped in responsibility, he acts as a lone ranger, taking care of everyone and everything - but not telling his sisters just how much financial trouble the inn is really facing. Not until Levi is willing to let go of controlling it all can he truly relax into God's best for his life.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Meanwhile, Mia Emerson, a rising Hollywood movie icon, comes to visit Bluebell after being dumped by her fiancee and facing scandal that could ruin her reputation and career. From the moment she and Levi meet, their connection is real and genuine. Levi promises to keep her location a secret and together, they slowly open up hearts and vulnerabilities to each other, while searching the inn for a lost piece of treasure.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Denise Hunter has delivered a solid, incredible read - even better than the first book in the series! The love story is touching and exciting, the story pace kept our lights on a little too late most nights, and the faith and depth gave us something to really sink our teeth into.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">We were highly anticipating this second book in the Bride Ships series and Jody Hedlund did not disappoint!
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Arabella Lawrence comes from a wealthy family, but must flee her home after facing some painful circumstances - most easily done by joining other women on a bride ship bound for a far away land. Once they reach British Columbia she is terrified to be on her own, but even more afraid of being sought by the wrong suitor. Two men, who could not be more different from each other, quickly notice her and try their best to win her favor - and this new competition to win her hand will only complicate matters.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Peter Kelly, the local baker, has worked hard to overcome his past mistakes. He longs to make his father proud, and one day he would love to settle down with a family of his own. The moment he meets Arabella he longs to win her heart. But Peter questions if he is enough, especially since she is used to wealth and comfort, and Navy Lieutenant Richard Drummond has also set his sights upon her.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Arabella befriends a young Indian girl who has been left behind to fend for herself since her village was burned down after a smallpox outbreak. Due to many differing opinions on how the Indians should be dealt with, secrecy and caution are imperative. Can Arabella break free from the expectations society has placed on her? Can she trust God to care for and lead her to make the best decisions for her present and future? Jody weaves this story together beautifully. We highly recommend it and again anticipate the next book in the series!

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">One of our favorites authors, Rachel Hauck, has delivered a home run in her newest book! Not only does the charming cover make you want to get cozy with this read right away, but the very first page draws in its readers from the first line.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Five seemingly random people in New York City - Jett, Lexa, Chuck, Coral and Ed - are sent mysterious invitations to join the Fifth Avenue Story Society at a little known, out of the way library. Each of them are skeptical, but due to their own personal reasons decide to join: Jett, a professor who may have stumbled on evidence that his literary idol was a fraud; Lexa, an overworked executive assistant who is continually overlooked; Chuck, an Uber driver, desperate to see his kids again; Coral, president of a cosmetics company who recently left her famous groom at the altar; and Ed, a widower trying to write the story of his loving marriage.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Each person shows up to the society meeting with broken hearts, broken lives and a desperate need for peace. Each continually comes back to the weekly society meeting for reasons even they cannot understand; except that an invisible force continues to draw them into relationship, community and healing with one another. Who sent these invitations, and why? What is the higher power at work here, and how will each character find answers to their questions and desires?
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Reminiscent of movies that follow multiple, seemingly disconnected storylines which all eventually come together, Rachel absolutely blew us away with her expert weaving of these storylines! The entire book was easy to get swept away in and the pace at which she revealed stories kept us eager for more. There were even a couple of twists at the end we did not see coming that helped us finish this ride with a bang!
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The characters in this book were just the right mixture of real, flawed and lovable. Their realistic traits kept us as readers believing we could also be sitting in that library; really flawed, yet worthy of friendship and love, and most importantly, never too far gone for God's gentle grace. His loving kindness pursues all of us, often in quiet ways, meeting us exactly where we are, and inspiring others to see what it's all about.
We recommend this book to anyone looking for an enticing read and maybe some inspiration and heart to go with it!.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Can you keep a secret? We confess Susan May Warren is one of our favorite authors; in fact, we refer to her as the master! We highly anticipate each new release of her books and are rarely disappointed. She captures our attention from the first page, her stories sweep us away, and her writing is flawless. Susan's newest book, The Way of the Brave, was no exception. We thoroughly enjoyed it and eagerly anticipate book 2 already!

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Orion Starr, former pararescue jumper is living - or should we say hiding? - in Alaska after a rescue gone terribly wrong in Afghanistan. As he lives with the pain of the past he can't help but wonder what went wrong, and why it ended with not only losing friends but also a woman he was falling hard for. Will he ever get answers?

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">When a former Navy Seal, Hamilton Jones, asks Orion to join his elite global rescue team, Orion claims his rescue days are over. But when a group of mountain climbers - including the girl from his past - becomes stranded on Denali, Orion can't help himself.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Former CIA profiler and psychiatrist Jenny Calhoun lives each day trying to push the past away, and can't seem to escape the guilt of what went wrong in Afghanistan. As she decides to climb Denali with two friends on their annual adventure together, little does she know her past is about to catch up with her.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Susan does a phenomenal job capturing our hearts with these new characters. The amount of depth and "realness" she adds to her stories always leave us impressed. Get ready for a fast paced, adventure filled, redemptive story on the highest mountain in America. Why not 5 stars? Susan adds in a lot of climbing lingo, leaving us a bit lost at times - but still an excellent story and a joy getting to know the people filling the pages.

When siblings Molly, Grace and Levi face the tragic loss of their parents, they come together to fulfill their parents' dream: turning their historic family home into a Bed and Breakfast.
During construction Molly finds a lost love letter from the 1960's which never reached its intended recipient. Determined to solve this mystery, Molly sets out to finally deliver the letter - but she can't do it alone! Willing to help is the very first guest at the Inn - Adam Bradford, who is actually a best selling author keeping his real identity private by using a pseudonym. Adam is on a deadline to get his new book written but gladly offers to help Molly. Denise takes us on a beautiful journey of love both past and present as we sit back and watch the mystery unfold. What a refreshing story, lovable and real characters, twists and turns and a plot that keeps us hooked. We are already eager for the next book in the series!

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Author Jody Hedlund is one of our favorite authors for this main reason: she expertly weaves together realistic, intriguing storylines with a God who is intimately involved with his people. Throw in some romance and tender friendships, and we have yet another book to add to our golden list! A Reluctant Bride is the first book in Jody's new Bride Ships series, and this one kept us up late at night reading until every last page was turned.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The story revolves around Mercy Wilkins, a young lady from the poorest of the poor slums in 19th century London. When she receives an opportunity to sail to British Columbia, she is eager to begin a new life for herself, not realizing her passage is aboard a Bride Ship - a vessel full of young women destined to marry men in the new world. Mercy is appalled at the thought of marriage, so instead focuses her efforts on assisting the ship's surgeon, Joseph. As they work together and get to know each other, both try to ignore the deep connection between them, but cannot deny the way God is moving them in their lives.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Jody hits a homerun in just about every way in this book. The storyline is igniting and flows smoothly at an excellent pace, deep issues are explored and dealt with, God is a main character with the way He leads and loves His people, and the love story is touching and swoon-worthy. We cannot wait for the rest of this series!

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Sweet on You is the story of Britt, the youngest Bradford sister, and her best friend Zander, who has been in love with Britt for years and desperately wishes she felt the same for him. Britt dates different guys casually but always ends things before they get too serious. Zander is her rock and steady place, but as he is her best friend, she never even considers falling in love with him as it may ruin everything they have. However, as the two of them embark on a journey to uncover a mystery, her feelings suddenly begin to change. Will they give love a chance, and will Britt actually open heart to the thought of forever?
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The story line was well done and we wanted to enjoy it, but it fell short in a few different areas for us. Zander's character was our favorite - loyal, strong, quiet and a hopeless romantic in all things dealing with Britt. Britt, however, was a disappointment to us as the growth she experienced was too little too late. We are all for flawed characters in need of learning some hard lessons and love to see redemption, but the characters struggled showing this which made the faith aspect come up short for us. Although the faith tried to wrap everything up nicely as the end, it was too little throughout the book. Again, this isn't the usual trend we see in Becky's writing and we hope to write a glowing review on her next book.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">This final book in the Montana Rescue Series has been an agonizingly long time in coming, so these two chicks are thrilled that it’s finally here!
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">All the way back in book 1, we were introduced to Pete and Jess. Their story has had many twists and turns throughout this series of six books and it finally has its conclusion.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Right from page one of Wait For Me the reader hits the ground running and never, ever stops. The storyline is filled with action, gripping suspense and heart aching flashbacks to what really has been happening between Pete and Jess for the last few years.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">As we have said before, author Susan is the master of story writing and she didn’t disappoint in this one!
The storyline, the depth and the sweet love story all deserved the highest ratings we give as they wound together to bring us a fantastic conclusion to this series! The only thing holding us back from a golden 5 star rating was the faith element. The story lacked the depth of faith we are used to in Susan’s stories, and really didn’t come into play much until the end of the book. Still we were glad to see it near the end.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Overall, this Montana Rescue Series will be one of our highly recommended reads and we have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Daughters of Northern Shores is the sequel to Sons of Blackbird Mountain. We highly recommend reading them in order! (Note: Book 1 spoilers included in this review! If you haven't read Book 1 - Stop, go read it, you'll be glad you did!)
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Joanne writes beautifully with a depth that few can compete with. In this second book we fast forward four years from where we left off in Sons of Blackbird Mountain. Haakon has traveled far from home, yet he can’t seem to escape the daily shame and guilt he lives with. He knows he must travel home to make amends and seek forgiveness, but will he be received with open arms?
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Aven, now happily married to Thor and carrying his child, is content with life, yet is still haunted by the past. When Haakon shows up, her heart longs for restoration. But she quickly begins to learn that restoration is much easier said than done; it can only be accomplished with help from the Lord.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The Norgaard brothers must come together again to fight off their enemies, the Sorrels. This time the fight must come to an end. Joanne keeps us on our toes as we join in on the feud that has been brewing for far too long.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The story ebbs and flows nicely as it pulls on so many different emotional heartstrings. We were in awe at how well Joanne tackles these tough situations with love and grace, writing in a way where you feel you are in the pages of this beautiful book.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">This newest book by Rachel Hauck was a journey you will not want to miss! One of our favorite authors, she is extremely talented weaving together characters and storylines in the past and present.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">We start off with young Everleigh Applegate in the 1950's. She has it all: a wonderful husband, a baby growing in her womb and a bright future, until a dreadful tornado sweeps through and shatters her hopes and dreams. Now stuck in a monotonous and hopeless pattern of life, it is hard for her to see the sun peeking through the clouds - until an old acquaintance shows up. Can Don breathe new life and hope back into Everleigh? Will Everleigh open both her heart and life to a new beginning?

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Beck Holiday, a present day New York City cop, is on a leave of absence due to anger issues. Frustrated and confused on what is next for her, she receives a letter in the mail saying she has inherited a house in Florida from someone named Everleigh Applegate. Beck lost her father in the attacks on 9/11 and along with losing him, she lost many of her memories tied to him as well; including her childhood trips to Florida where Eveleigh lived. Confused as to why she would inherit this house, she takes advantage of her time off to travel to Florida to find out. Upon arriving she runs into Bruno; apparently her first crush,. She may not remember him, but he definitely remembers her and their summers spent together! Can Bruno help Beck get her memories back? And is it too late for him to earn a spot in her heart?
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">This book is filled with emotion, struggles, forgiveness and love. We had a hard time putting it down and spent too many nights staying up past our bedtimes to keep reading! We fell in love with the characters and appreciate the depth Rachel brought into this story. Only the rushed and crammed ending held this back from a higher star rating for us! We highly recommend taking this journey!
